We were approved yesterday for six in-network visits to the out-of-network (only one in town) high risk pregnancy specialist. This is a huge blessing, as it will greatly reduce our out-of-pocket costs. While we could theoretically still hit our annual family maximum, it at least spreads the cash outlay over a longer period of time.
However, we are still bracing for many customer service calls with our insurance carrier. There are two women at work who are seeing the same doctors. They were also approved, but told me that their claims were not paid correctly the first couple times. We have been there and done that before! Maybe we should band together and form an alliance?

Who is your insurance carrier?
My employer!!!
That journey sounds all too familiar! I called our insurance for a year after seeing Dr. Adair for factor 5. My thoughts are certainly with you (even though I don’t know you and stumbled upon your blog) as you deal with the daily shots, and 3 hours visits that last maybe 30 minutes total and cost almost an entire weeks pay! : )
With our second daughter they were out of network and we’re still paying it off. He signed a contract with our insurance a month after I gave birth, ah the irony!
