Below is a list of the latest happenings in the Kennedy world.
- Pam’s parents came up this past weekend for Easter. On Saturday we all went to the Barn Nursery to stock up on annuals and garden supplies. Later we rode the Lookout Mountain Incline. Aidan thought it was really cool. On Sunday after church we grilled steaks. In the late afternoon I got everything planted in our flower beds. The grass, however, remains unmowed and ugly.
- Everyone but me headed south to Mississippi on Monday. I miss them, of course, but there is a lot to keep me occupied while they are gone.
- My new training job has been going well. However, after a quick start it has slowed down significantly. Right now I am *waiting* for information in order to proceed. It will speed up soon enough with a major project coming up in May.
- There are signs of activity for the Tour de Georgia stage that is happening here on Thursday. Yesterday afternoon I saw Walker County workers on Old Chattanooga Valley Rd. with a street sweeper. Later, on the way home from work, I passed several riders from a pro team going the opposite direction on Broad St. I could only catch their colors and not the name of the team. However, at lunch today I saw a team car with the same markings. It was raining heavily, so it was either TargetTraining or Priority Health. Local athlete Eddy Hilger rides for Priority, but they are not one of the official teams in the race.
- Speaking of the bike race, on Monday early evening I rode part of the the time trial course. I left our subdivision and worked my way backwards on the race route to downtown Chickamauga. Then I looped back around to the rear entrance of our neighborhood. Walker County has some great roads for bicycling. The only downsides are: 1) the lack of shoulders, and 2) the bounty of inconsiderate drivers.
- I picked up the snakes this morning at the Fed-Ex station. After traveling all the way from south Florida in deli cups packed with Aspen bedding, they are understandably shaken and skittish. One had just shed her skin and the other was a little bit agitated. I will not begin feeding them until next week. As for handling them, that will not happen for at least three weeks until they are more acclimated to their new surroundings. Only when they are fully tame will I let the kids hold them.
Later tonight I will post photos from last week, as well as shots of the snakes.

Don’t forget the inconsiderate bikers as well.
You should try regularly riding a bike on the road sometime and see if you say that again.
I don’t want to get on my soap box too much, but I’m serious when I say that this is way more than a pet peeve. Sharing the road is a matter of life and death. And while I can admit that not all bikers follow all the traffic rules, I personally witness far more bad (and dangerous) behavior by drivers.
