“Do you want to know what it is?”

“No, don’t tell her,” I quickly replied to the ultrasound technician.

“Yes, I want to know,” she said while casting me the look.

I would be thrilled no matter “who” you have. I have three older brothers and always wanted a younger brother so hopefully Belle will enjoy him just as much as Aidan.

My theory about names is people either give you flack to your face if you name your baby before he or she is born or they give their opinions quietly to each other after and you never honestly know what they think. I say tell us all now and anyone you love will love the name you choose and it will fit your little one just fine. Ian’s mom made fun of me the whole time I was pregnant with Xave but her name definately fits her in spite of that grief and we get compliments all the time.

Yes, I think that it’ll be good for Isabel to have an older and younger brother. She’s never going to be able to date!

That whole thing from Ian’s mom probably wasn’t so much the name Xaverie, but the fact that you picked it. The man is supposed to name the kids (you know … goes back to Adam naming the animals in the garden). ;)

Perhaps the whole allowing people to give praise or criticism isn’t such a bad thing? Lois wanted to give Pamela the name Phaedra. It’s Greek and means “glowing.” The pronounciation is FAY-drah and all I can think of when I hear it is the nickname “Fae/Fay” and some old lady. It looks much better in print. So anyway, Doug chose the name Pamela after the street they lived on (Pamel Court). :)

So now that we know yall are having a boy … hmm.

After I found out girl names were out the window I came up with a good one. After reading the replies from the XX/XY post, I saw where I had written in order .. Caitlyn, Lois, Scott … and I thought, “What about Caitlyn Scott Kennedy?” Lots of Southerners pass on fathers’ names, and it actually sounded good. I told Lo about it and got the “Well, yeah, that’s nice…” shrug/look. Anyway. Maybe next time! ;-)

Virginia: That might have worked. I believe that one of my ancestors had the name Laura Scott Kennedy. Scott may actually have been her maiden name, though I could be mistaken. I’ll have to ask at our family reunion in a couple weeks.
