Now that you all know we are having a boy, I suppose that I can tell you we already had a girl’s name picked out — Audrey Elizabeth. In addition to the glamour, glow and history of the names, we liked that the first one began with a vowel just like the other kids’ names (though that was not a conscious decision with Aidan and Isabel).
We currently have several boy’s names in mind, but are having a difficult time narrowing them down to a combination that “fits in but stands out”. Some are family names. Some are ethnic names. Others are names of long time friends. And in case you were wondering, Scottie, Jr. is not on the list. Much more research and contemplation is in order.
In the interest of generating excitement and more ideas for names, I am copying Bob’s baby name contest. Guess the name, birth date, weight, length, etc. of our kid by clicking here, or by selecting the Baby Name Contest link on the right hand navigation (under Colophon). Below are a few hints to help you along.
- The official due date is November 2, 2006.
- Aidan’s due date was November 7th, but he was born on October 13th.
- Aidan weighed 5.5 lbs. at birth, but Isabel was over two pounds heavier.
- The baby measured 19.5 weeks yesterday, but his legs were at 21 weeks.
- Pamela and I have brown hair, but as kids it was blond and red respectively.
- Aidan and Isabel had very little hair from birth to their first birthdays.
- My eyes are green and Pamela’s are blue (see eye color predictor).
By the way, in case you have not figured it out yet, we are not revealing the baby’s name until after he is born. You can pray for him just as well without knowing his name. If you must call him something, then call him Kiki (KEE kee). That is the name Aidan picked out when he first found out that Pamela was pregnant.

My very good friend from childhood’s name was Keith Pisarich. We called him Key-Key til about 1st or 2nd grade. Just a thought.
You offering a prize to the winner?
It was going to just be for fun, but perhaps we can make it into a pool and half the proceeds can go to his college fund!
Cool, we have our very first entry … and a name I’d drink to as well!

[...] There has been a limited response to our baby name contest that I announced a couple months ago. I suppose that offering some sort of prize would help. I have decided that the grand prize will be a pet Burmese python (approximately six feet long when the contest concludes). The nice folks on the python forum think it is just beautiful. I will even throw in a bag of frozen rats. Enter here or click on the link in the sidebar navigation. [...]
