[...] You may recall that I wrecked my mountain bike a few months ago. Since then I have managed to secret away a small amount of cash made up largely of birthday money. A couple weeks ago I used it to buy a bargain bike. It was a cheap because it is only a single speed and has a rigid (unsuspended) fork. It also has 29″ wheels instead of the standard 26″ wheels, which is a growing trend in mountain biking. Large wheels soak up bumps. [...]

[...] I am not trying to get the most money possible out of the bicycle, but I do want to make a few bucks to add to my much needed mountain bike fund. I do not think that I will ever go back to NuMarkets. My faith in them is gone. Hopefully craigslist will work, but if not, then at least I know that with Ebay I will get equal returns for the effort that I put into it. « Weekend Couch Project [...]

[...] I just found out that this weekend is the grand opening of the Raccoon Mountain Trail System. The news really, really makes me regret the mistakes that led to my mountain bike situation, but hopefully I can take remedy that soon (I have started a fund). The Raccon Mountain trail project will not be complete for a few more years, but four miles of singletrack will be open four biking and hiking. A press release, schedule of events and details on the new trails can be found on the Bike Chattanooga website. « Shameless Baby Registry Plug [...]

Well, Tiffany had an accident this morning on the way to school . She said she had some makeup in her eye.....Well, I don't think she would leave the house without full coverage either..so it must be true..Her car is gone though she's okay. I always pray for the kids to have close calls because you do learn so much but then you feel bad when they do.....

I never leave the house unless fully made up!

I should have known that! ;)

But seriously, women putting on makeup behind the wheel scares me way more than cell phones, eating, jamming to music, etc. I saw this lady yesterday who was applying mascara (sp?) while driving. If she's looking in the visor mirror, who's watching the road!?!

There may be something to what Tim says...as in listening to the radio too loud can desensitize you to certain warning sounds like a honking horn, the drum of a motorcycle muffler or even the squeel of tires when taking a curve too fast. However, backing out of your driveway? Nah. I'd think that farding in the car would be more likely to cause an accident than would the radio.

Now I don't feel so bad about scraping the bumper of the car on the retaining wall while backing the car out of the garage....never did that before. Tim is absolutely convinced I listen to the radio too loud but I'm not sure why he thinks that had something to do with it. Do you think there is a connection?

ARGH. I'm so sorry, Scott. It seems that when it rains, it pours, doesn't it?

It's always a tough call to file insurance, particularly when you factor in the increase in your policy rate. Sounds to me like you're really probably not going to save enough to make it worth filing on this one, IMO. With a $500 deductible, about $600 damage. . .if your premium goes up it may make up the $100 difference.
