Monday Mix #3

  • She said she was staying for a week and ended up being here for over two. Yes, Pamela’s mom went home this past Friday morning. It was great having her here and her absence was felt immediately. I wish that she and Doug lived closer.
  • Thursday evening we all went to dinner at the new P.F. Chang’s to celebrate Albert’s birthday. It is the smallest P.F.C. that I have ever been to—only one giant horsey statue out front instead of the usual two—but the food was just as good.
  • I was off work on Thursday and Friday. The long weekend was nice. I got to spend more time with Ethan and also began cleaning out our garage. I also worked a little on the attic again, which will eventually house the boxes that are currently stacked in our garage. I need to reinforce some joists so that I can lay a floor in the attic.
  • I found some mouse droppings a few weeks ago in the garage and have since caught three mice—two adults and one juvenile. There are definitely more, as I noticed that peanut butter had been eaten off of some traps. They need to make those things more sensitive. There are no signs of rodents inside the house…yet.
  • I am still taking OTC pain killers for my back soreness, though there has been noticable improvement over the last couple days. The worst part of it has been the spot on the right side of my lower spine. I was beginning to worry, but it appears to be a bruise and not something worse (i.e., disk damage).
  • Ethan’s tear ducts have been clogging up a little bit, which makes it look like he has pink eye without the redness. The doctor just told us to clean the residue with a warm wet cloth and massage the area around the tear ducts. This is apparently not too uncommon and usually clears up on its own.
  • Both Pamela and I have head colds. We might have gotten them anyway, but I think that the last couple weeks of little sleep have definitely been contributing factors.
  • Today is the first day that Pamela is alone with all three kids. I plan on going home for lunch to check on things.
  • In case you have not noticed, I have been posting photos to our Flickr account. The photos that appear on sidebar of the blog will always be the most recent.

Fuller had the tear duct thing when he was a few days old. We had to use some ointment or something, but I bet we could have gone w/o.

Is PF Chang’s kid friendly? Just keeping in mind another birthday coming up.

D did the floor in our attic and it has made such a difference. For one, I do not fear falling through again. But organizationally, it is awesome.

Get better soon! I recommend Chicken flavored Ramen.

I had the tear duct thing when I was a baby and had to have surgery.

Mice love beef jerky and it always makes the mice trip the trap when you use it. The sticky traps are pretty sweet, too.

Wedge a piece of apple onto the trap. That will get them!
