Uglyhead

Now that Ethan is sleeping at night we are soon going to move him from our master suite to Aidan’s bedroom. The boys are five years apart and can probably share a room until Aidan hits his pre-teen years. Does anyone have any advice on how long this might last before they should be separated?

In anticipation of the time when Ethan moves out of his crib, we placed an order last week at Children’s Fair for a bunk bed. We went with a dark blue color rather than trying to match the existing wood finishes in the room. Aidan’s walls are a sky blue color and the furniture is a mix of hand-me-down Ethan Allen pieces in shades of honey maple. The kids’ new bed is by youngAmerica (a division of Stanley). I was quite impressed with its quality. We also looked at Ethan Allen beds, but the Stanley bed was just as sturdy for a few hundred dollars less. Also, like many bunk beds these can be unbunked and set up as separate twin beds (in bunk formation the top uses the footboards and the bottom uses the headboards). For the time being we plan to set it up as a loft bed.
