Settlers is one of my FAVORITES! We should get together and play sometime — we have the extension set so up to 6 can play. I’ve tried to get Greg to play with just the two of us, but we tried each playing two hands — might have to try again and tweak the rules.

mrscrumley — where do you locate the online-version?? not that i need something else to do or anything. . .

@bob: We may have to try that card game. Someone else mentioned it was good.

@mrscrumley: If we get to the point where we won’t play anymore, then I’m going to check out the online games. However, one of the things I’ve enjoyed about Settlers is that it’s taken me away from the PC and put Pam and I face to face in the evening (vs. me disappearing to my subterranean office to blog and her to the bedroom to watch TV).

@holton, stelmodad & willa: One thing I’ve been reminded of just by playing this evening is how much of a jerk I can be when I’m losing, but I’m totally pleasant to be around when I win. Pam is a much better sport when she loses, which so far happens to her more than it does me (3-2 on average). Therefore, I have come to the realization that the only way we’ll be able to play 2 person Settlers without having any knock down drag out fights is for me to win all the time!

My parents played every night for 6 months when they first got the game. And that game is one of the few times my mom has gotten really angry at Ethan (who can kick her butt at Settlers). Though now they are on to a new game which is causing even more fights. . .Bohnanza. I’ve not played it yet, but the kids (E and Sam. . .not the little ones) love it. Something about trading beans. . .

D found an online version that he spent quite a few hours playing. I never win that game, but I still have fun!

If you want to stay friends with the another person: never, never play settlers one on one… especially with your spouse.

yeah be careful. we tweaked the rules for 2 players (no robber, reroll 7s, soldiers are worth a free card) which is better. but there’s a 2 player card-type version we just got that’s cool.
